President's Report - 11th April

It is nearly that time of the year again, back into the regular Sunday racing with the beginning of the Autumn Series.  Sunday the 17th will be the first round of this year’s Autumn series with racing starting at 10.00am.

SERCCC has had a good representation of drivers competing in some of the major title meetings not only in Victoria but also in Tasmania over the past few weeks.  There have been some outstanding results from all who have attended.  For some, it was there first time running in such big events, and at these tracks.  Keeping this in mind, the results of all of these drivers have been outstanding and just go to show that the quality of the competition at SERCCC is up there with the best in the country.

Tasmanian State Titles:

Patrick Arena (21.5) qualified 3rd in the A main, finished 4th after a challenging time with setup etc on a technical track that he had never driven before.

KROMA Cup ( Keilor ):

21.5 -  1st with an outstanding drive was the consummate professional Trevor Waye, with Patrick Arena giving his all in Qualifying, getting 3rd on the grid, but narrowly missing the podium with a 4th place.

13.5 – 1st was Jason Morris with a very consistent and well managed effort, it was a tough track with traction coming and going throughout the meeting.  Gab Bankuti came home 4th at the end of the day, another great effort for a natural talent.

VORTEC EP Titles ( Keilor ):

With the changes in classes this year and the migration of some of SERCCC’s top GP drivers to EP, there was a lot of discussion early on in the year about who was going to attend this meeting, we had a good representation in 3 classes, 21.5, 13.5 and Mini.

The results for the meeting were once again very impressive, with SERCCC drives making there presence known.

21.5 – Once again, an ever professional drive from Trevor Waye securing 1st place with Patrick Arena making it up to 3rd in the final qualifier, but having a couple of issues in the final coming home 4th again at the end of the day.   Still, this is a top effort considering this is Patrick’s first 18months in the hobby, first 6 months running EP.  The quality of the field that is running 21.5 this year is exceptional, with the likes of Tim Keiller and Lyndon Turvey running in the class, these results are outstanding.

13.5 – 1st place once again went to Jason Morris, a very well done effort on his part to back up after an incident early in the meeting to take home the trophy, with Jason Ercegovic coming in 8th in the a main, it just goes to show the quality of drivers at SERCCC.  Jason E has only been running EP for a matter of weeks, and to make it to an A main final in his first ever title meeting, a well done effort to you.

Mini -  Damien Kent finished a respectable 10th in Mini.

With a top notch field, and a track that left a lot to be desired for the mini drivers, to finish was an achievement.  With the use of Cola on the corners to try and promote traction for the touring cars, it made life very difficult for the mini’s.

With the great results that SERCCC members have achieved over the course of these meetings, it is pleasing to see that the quality of the drivers that compete on a regular basis is so high, and with some of our other members running close with these guys, there is no reason why they too could not achieve similar results in these title meetings.

The GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL DASH is the next major event on the SERCCC calendar for 2011, this is the 22nd of April, starting from 7.30-8.00am in the morning with Trevor’s traditional Sunday breakfast.  Look forward to seeing you all there.
