President's Report - 6th May

Hi from the President,

The second of May was another great race meeting 29 entries and Super Stock ran as a separate class for the first time and showed some extremely quick lap time with the fastest lap by Gab being 10.579. The weather was looking very threatening at the start of the day however it held out until after everyone had gone and just as I was leaving after locking the gate it started to rain a little, perfect timing.

Greg is staring to pull out a bit of a lead in Lola with 84 points between him and Trevor in second place, Trevor has missed racing one round so it will come down to the last round in the series to see who’s going to win. The Legends are starting to get close at the top with only 20 points between first and third place, the track record was broken again with the first 13.935 second lap by a legend the previous fastest lap was 14.025, Shaun’s Legend is proving to be hard to stay in front of, he won two races on Sunday making it a draw for the day between Shaun and me, with only six points between us it’s going to be a fun series as it could go either way.

The drag racers will be back again on our next race day the 16th hopefully I will get a chance to do a few passes with my Pro Stock car and find out how fast it is. Sunday the 16th will be round five out of the seven round series, classes we are running currently are

On the Sat the 8th of May we will be having a working bee with the main task being sealing the roof of the container. There will be other tasks such as painting, going through the boards pulling out bent ones and a general tidy up of the container.  If a few people turn up it will make the work load a lot lighter, and we might be able to get in a tuning session after all the work is done. We will be getting there at 10:00 in the morning and there will be a free BBQ lunch for those participating. Please not if power tools are to be used the person using the power tool will need to have an OH&S red card or proof they have participated in OH&S training.

One other change I would like to talk about is we are going to be setting up a table in front of the container at the next race meeting and cars and radios are to be placed on this table after each race and the driver is to go straight out to marshal, this is to enable us to make fund any transponders that haven’t been returned to the rack, and also hopefully help marshals to be at the marshalling points prior to the start of the following race. After the drivers have marshaled the race the can get their cars.

Upcoming events are on the 4th of July we are having a Midyear trophy dash, then on the 28th&29th of August we are hosting the inaugural Dandenong  Cup, a two day event the details for this event will be announced on this web site over the next few weeks. The last major event for the year will be the Ron Wilson Memorial on the 5th of December.

Always keep them shinny side up,

Darren Watts
