Presidents Report - 19th April

Hi again from the president

The third round for the summer series was on Sunday and what an awesome day for racing it was, perfect weather and a huge turnout 30 entries in total including half a dozen new drivers. It was surprising how fast Jason Ercegovic was on his first time out driving a nitro car after running VRC, he could really make that car move, the guys running nitro clars will have to watch out for Jason in the future. It was also good to see the great job that Jessica did in legends, I am tipping I’ll have to watch out in a few weeks as she will be flying past me. Shaun was flying along in his legend and in one of the races joined the elite Legends 14 second club so far there are only three drivers that have done 14 second laps with a legend.

Drag racers were running next to the track and I saw some ballistically quick cars run through the 40M strip I heard rumors some cars were doing a standing 40 metres in 1.8 seconds, that sounds fast to me. Drag racing will be held on the second race day each month so bring down your drag cars and join in the fun.

The next race meeting is on the 2nd of may I look forward to seeing everyone at the track for another day of racing.

On the 8th of May we will be having a working bee with the main task being sealing the roof of the container. There will be other tasks such as painting, going through the boards pulling out bent ones and a general tidy up of the container.  If a few people turn up it will make the work load a lot lighter, and we might be able to get in a tuning session after all the work is done.

Upcoming events are on the 4th of July we are having a Midyear trophy dash, then on the 28th&29th of August we are hosting the inaugural Dandenong  Cup, a two day event the details for this event will be announced on this web site over the next few weeks. The last major event for the year will be the Ron Wilson Memorial on the 5th of December.

Good luck to anyone from our club that is running at the Mini nationals this weekend; it looks like it will be a great event.

Always keep them shinny side up,

Darren Watts
