Major overhaul of the VORTEC rules for 2007
#1 - Class name changes!
A new class called "Pull Start Sport" has been introduced which takes over from the old stock class.
A new class called "Touring" has also been introduced, this allows drivers to race the pro-touring class cars against others with the same skills/budget.
Pro Stock is now called "Pull Start Pro"
Touring & Pro Touring remain the same
#2 - Class rule changes.
Pull Start Sport and Pull Start Pro will run to the same rules, these rules are the old (2006) Pro Stock rules. eg.
* Any 1/10 touring car with an unmodified pull start kit engine .12-.15 cu/in in size.
* Single or two speed transmission
* Tuned pipe (optional)
* Rubber or Foam tyres
* Gear ratios can be changed
* Shock and diff oils can be changed
* Any chassis/suspension upgrade
Entries for the Pull Start Sport class will be reviewed at a VORTEC meeting prior to each round, if it is decided a driver should move up to the next class, that will take place immediately and that driver will no longer be eligible to run in the lower class. Hopefully this will stop the drivers that are "Trophy Hunting" and make it fairer for all.
Grading will be judged by lap speed & consistency.
All drivers in the Pull Start Sport class will have the opportunity to move up to Pull Start Pro depending on their performance -or wish to do so!
#3 - Championship points
There will be two separate championships run during the year, an individual and a club. Whilst racing at a VORTEC meet any driver will accumulate points for themselves and/or for their club.
The individual championship will be run over 4 rounds with the last round being double points, points will be allocated on the number of drivers in that class on the day (which will change). e.g.. In the first round if there are 15 drivers in Pull Start Sport the winner of the final will receive 15 points toward his tally, if in the second round there are 20 drivers in Pull Start Sport the winner of the final will receive 20 points towards their tally.
Points are then accumulated over the year and trophies will be awarded to the top ten in each class at the end of round 4.
The club and driver's championship will be run over 4 rounds with only the top eight drivers in each class gaining points for their club.
Points will be awarded to "A" finalists as follows, 1st = 10 points, 2nd = 8 points, 3rd = 6 points, 4th = 5 points, 5th = 4 points, 6th = 3 points, 7th = 2 points, 8th = 1 point.
There will be a one-off additional entry fee of $10.00 to enter the individual championship (to cover the cost of trophies) e.g. the first VORTEC round will cost $25.00 to enter, from then on normal race fees apply at VORTEC rounds.
