******Team Magic Vortec Round at SERCCC******
The skies were as grey as Trev's hair, but the on-track action was fierce !
Our new BBQ was christened by " El Kappo " on Saturday arvo, and it is a MASSIVE improvement on the grease & fat processing station that we've been using up until now.
The traction and tyre wear issues we've experienced of late were put to rest, partly due to the nice gesture by the Dandenong concil guys who ran the street sweeper over the whole area on Saturday morning, partly due to Gav, the Smuggler & Co's efforts with the billy goat and MOSTLY due to us using our special juice ;0)
Moving some of the track boards and domes around made our layout really awesome, I heard nothing but positives from the whole weekend.
I'd like to say a big thank you to all the guys that put in a massive effort to make this all come together , special thanks to Ted & Jason, 2 guys that put in enormously even though they don't race.... Sunday gave me a real glimpse ( read "twinge") of what our club days will be like in the near future, hopefully you all had that very same vision !
We are quickly getting near to our next commitee meeting, I will announce the date ASAP and would like to have as many of the current members present so we can discuss some exiting new developments...
"The Prez"
Race times : UPDATED!
Guys, please read the suggested race time table! ( HERE )
We are endevouring to try and streamline the day's activities and not drag it out ....we have bought forward the official " get to the track" time to 8.30AM - with this time it allows us to get organised and racing by 10 am which means a 4 pm finish.
For round #9 , the commitee decided to try and run a 7 minute gap between heats in order to keep the day's activities rolling.
Unfortunately this caused a problem for one of our members, we will look and try ways to make some time so everybody can get their cars fixed and ready for every race.

Bunnings Dandenong fundraiser BBQ - A success for the club !
A big thank you to all the club members who donated their time on the 8th of June to help run the fundraising BBQ.
Special mention to Trev who did a lot of "behind the scenes" organising to get the show on the road, and to Paul Borthwick for supplying the bangers.
P.S. red bottle = tomato sauce, brown bottle = bbq sauce,
yellow bottle = tomato sauce ?
"where's the mustard !"
Although we fell a little short of the mark we expected, we still managed to raise enough funds to purchase all new BBQ equipment ,utensils, sauce bottles etc. and now we have funds enough to cover a brand new BBQ
(we will be hosting a funeral service for the old BBQ in the near future - possibly to be held at the frankston tip).
We are looking at several different BBQ's at this moment...

Round #5

Happy Sri Lankan New Year!
Literally "Millions and Millions " gathered at the Showgrounds (and SERCCC) for Sri Lankan new year celebrations... Don't believe me?....check out the gallery....it was awesome !
--I have now learnt to sing several popular Sri Lankan songs ( the music was blasting all day long ) and race director Ted Dexter knows a few of the drum riffs and dance moves ;0) ....these guys can party !
Now , back to reality!
Track setup took half as long today, and I predict it will take even less time in the future - thanks to all :0)
Early bird Gavin was there at the crack of dawn cleaning all the dust off the track ensuring we have a nice clean surface to lay the juice onto - thanks Gav!
Strangely, many notable absentees today, however the racing was great.
Congratulations to our newest member, Ben Dowell , he raced Mini for the first time and managed to win the final ( and dust up the Foss....actually, he was beaten home by a girl as well!!!)
2 new faces in the Mini class - Miller, J. and Miller,W. - will they be regulars?
Also, welcome David Byrne - new member.
"Jeff Fenech" / Barry Hall ( Shane Winter ) took out pull start convincingly, whilst pro touring went to the Prez in a masterful display.
Round #4
Nice weather to be outdoors today, entry numbers up yet again.
kaptn's "heart foundation tick of dissaproval steak sandwiches" went down a treat.
Mini racing was split into 2 heats, the fast minis and the ones that are trying to get to grips with 'em ( Chris Glasgow) !
Sensational debut by "DC" with his Suzuki mini, getting faster and faster as the day went by...still , today was the day of the 'Foss....he said he'd do it , and he did. ( look out Trev!)
Oh yeah, who was TQ ?? LOL!
Nice to see quite a few new faces at the club , they seemed to be having a great time, and also welcome back Ash Seward!
The recent windstorms and no racing since the 15/3 made a mess of the track surface, and tyre wear was extremely high to say the least.
Continued spraying will get it back to how we like it.....the 2 leaders of the Pro Touring final pulling their cars off the track in the final due to running out of tyre ( photos coming soon....)
p.s. did anybody see what type of steroids Gavin Grey was taking?...some of the laps he put down today in the heats and the finals were amazing!

Round #3
Round #3
A big thank you to the guys that showed up early today to do a bit of work at the track...much appreciated, you know who you are !
They managed to get all the boards laid out and trimmed to butt up into the poly pipe.
We will be painting the boards and domes in the next few weeks - "watch this space" ;0)
Twelve minis this round ! My bet is that there will be 2 or 3 heats by the end of the year....prove me wrong!
A slightly revised pit straight and pit lane exit were trialled today which seemed to go well - any comments? email me...
The new traction juice ratio seemed to work extremely well , even in today's 30deg. heat.
Great effort by Shane (Anthony Mundine) Winter in pull start to take out his first final, and congratulations to Karl Peterson for great driving in the heats.
Pro Touring was yet again the "turtle smuggler" show, however Leigh Cleine can be content with finally cracking it into the 16's !.....Gav is trying to remember who is fuelling his car!
Mini today was a 10 minute, reverse grid final - carnage as usual with the top 4 leading at one stage or another but the 'smuggler once again managed to come home with the goods and is now tied on points with the prez.....must have been that special "gift" he received from the Foss....speaking of the Foss, he is still looking for that extra 5% !
Round #2
A great day's weather and good racing was had by all competitors ....bacon & eggs going "off" as usual !
The track crew is currently tinkering with the right amount of water/sugar/cordial ratio (environmentally friendly) - in any case , the grip was good all day and tyre wear can be best described as "acceptable"...but we will endeavour to get it 100%!
Mini racing is going great guns - and we added yet another little twist to this class, an extra corner in the infield to make things just that little more interesting.
The new finals format, reverse grid was a big hit ( pardon the pun).
Encouraging to see many spectators throughout the day - also some new faces and old faces returning.
